In a generous gesture, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Dimapur Region, today distributed umbrellas to students and staff of Government Primary School, Imkonglenden. The Party also undertook a tree plantation drive at the school premise to beautify the school.
President, NDPP Dimapur, Kughato S Aye, who led the party members in the umbrella distribution and tree plantation drive, in his address, said the party has not come to the school to preach the political party’s ideology or principles. He said the party’s gesture was to contribute in a little way towards bringing “change”, especially to the needy section.
The NDPP president exhorted the children to study hard if they wish to succeed in life as there is no short cut to success except through hard work and diligent study. Kughato also urged the teachers to be sincere and dedicated in their duty since the future of the students rest on them.
He also said since the school belongs to all, the colony elders and residents must all take collective responsibility to nurture and protect the school building and assets.
Further, Kughato assured that for the academic session 2019, the NDPP Dimapur would bear the admission expenses of all the students. Teacher in-charge, GPS Imkonglenden, Aienla gave a brief history of the school and GB, Imkonglenden Colony Council, Apok Longkumer, also spoke on the occasion.
Secretary, NDPP Dimapur, Shiyeto Wotsa, chaired the programme and member, SMC, GPS Imkonglenden, Panger Jamir, proposed vote of thanks.
