The Central Youth Organization (CYO) of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) held 1st general meeting-cum-introductory session for the tenure 2024-27 on June 28.
Addressing the session as the special guest at NDPP HQ conference hall Kohima, Nagaland school education & SCERT Advisor Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome described the youth as the most vibrant and the most active functionary in the political party.
In this, he urged upon the CYO to come forward and do road shows and also take the government programmes and policies to the constituencies/grassroots across the state.
Dr Yhome also stressed on the need to propagate the initiatives and various policies of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio. He asserted that the state government have been trying its best to empower the youth so that they (youth) contribute to the state's progress in return.
Stating that Nagaland stands the third most literate state in India, he said “We have our own difficulties back home also, but we know that our landlocked state, our only greatest weapon is we need to invest, we need to build our human resources.” “We deserve a better life,” he said adding “We need to improve our livelihood patterns, we need to create channels.”
Touching on music industry, he said that Nagaland is the only state in India that has a separate department dedicated to music. “Very soon, our education department will also initiate things in a very big way at the primary level,” he said.
Touching on the opposition-less government and the recent major political development wherein seven NCP MLAs joined NDPP (Raising NDPP’s strength to 32 in the 60 state assembly), Dr Yhome said “Our government is very stable and much more stable now.”

In presidential address, NDPP CYO president Imchatoba Imchen said that CYO 2024-27tenure consists 69 office bearers wherein 22 are new entrants from different constituencies. “We are going forward and we will continue to strive our best for future endeavour too,” he said.
NDPP CYO Working President Lhouvi Punyu said “We have to play a very important role in propagating all the government initiatives through our social media platform.” He also encouraged all the CYO members to open social media account and contribute good to the party and the community as a whole.
NDPP Central Women Organisation President, Vikali A Zhimomi also delivered short speech. The programme was chaired by NDPP CYO secretary Yonglong K Konyak while welcome address was delivered working president Lhouvi Punyu. Introductory session was led by NDPP CYO vice president Vichosel Rhutso while NDPP CYO secretary K. Lakiumong Yimkhiung delivered new inductee speech. L. Sopong Wanmai, vice president, presented a special number.
NDPP CYO general secretary John Kikon prayed for the programme while vote of thanks was proposed by NDPP CYO general secretary Dode Nakro. Zuthungbeni N Humtsoe and Kiviboto Sheqi, both secretary of CYO assisted as recorder of the session.
