Shokhuvi, September 16 (MExN): A debate competition on human rights was held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Shokhuvi, on with the participation of seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The topic of the debate was “Whether creating greater awareness of human rights in the security personnel is the need of the time.” The event aimed to sensitise personnel on the importance of strict adherence to human rights while dealing with the public.
A total of 28 speakers comprising of 14 each speaking for and against the motion presented their arguments in both English and Hindi.
Assam Rifles secured the first position and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) took the second place in both the English and Hindi categories.
The winning teams, Assam Rifles and CISF, have been selected to represent the North East Zone in the semi-finals of the Inter-CAPF debate competition scheduled for October–November 2025.
Brigadier Chandan Singh Pathania, Commandant of ARTC&S, commended the participants and efficient conduct of the event as well as extended his best wishes to the prize-winning teams. He also expressed gratitude to the four judges for their valuable inputs and contribution.
The debate formed part of the NHRC North East Zone Debate Competition, with CAPFs including BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, ITBP and Assam Rifles participating, informed an ARTC&S release.
