NE farmers attend national fair in Delhi

Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): A delegation of 11 progressive farmers from Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, led by a team of scientists and technical officers of ICAR- National Research Centre on Mithun, Jharnapani, are participating in the three-day “Krishi Unnati Mela” being held at the Pusa campus in national capital Delhi from March 19-21.   Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the national fair on March 19, which aims to provide information on new farm schemes and technologies to help farmers double their incomes within the next few years.

  The participating farmers will immensely benefit from the live demonstration of agriculture and horticultural crops, animal husbandry, innovative technologies and farm mechanisation being exhibited by both public and private companies in over 500 stalls, a press release received here said.   NRC on Mithun also put up a stall displaying the technologies developed in the institute for the scientific rearing of mithun and leather products made up of mithun skin, the release added.
