
Morung Express News Dimapur | April 7 Young Indians (Yi) Nagaland Chapter celebrated its 9th annual day here at Hotel Europa Inn Friday evening, with co-founder, New Call Telecom Holdings BV, Nigel Eastwood, as chief guest and YI Regional Chair, NER & business partner, Designwale, Mehtaj Zaman Ahmed, as special guest. Speaking on the theme of the celebration ‘Making a difference’, Eastwood said in the near future the country, especially the North East Region, would witness a huge increase in cross border trade with South East Asian countries. He also predicted that in the next five years international brands would set up shops in the North East Region in a big way. He said since change is inevitable, NE people have to be ready to face challenges ahead and work out strategies to make a difference in the context of changing scenario. One of the challenges, the New Call Telecom company co-founder said, is “how to make a difference” to make NER more attractive to investors. He said NER possesses rich biodiversity and other natural resources to make the region a hotspot for tourism and investors alike. He also observed that Nagas have strong entrepreneurial DNA to succeed in their ventures but unfortunately they are held back due. However, he expressed optimism that the determination of the young people to face challenges would ultimately prevail and further urged the young people and entrepreneurs to talk more about opportunities and not be bogged down by hurdles. Mehtaj who also spoke on the theme of the celebration encouraged the young entrepreneurs to give back to the society and country which helped and encouraged them in the first place. She said as individuals, the entrepreneurs may excel in their own fields and professions, but then it was time to come together and ‘Make a difference’ for overall progress. President awardee and founder, Preciousmelove, Zuboni Humtsoe also shared her experiences of how she started her home-based enterprise in a small way but through sheer determination caught the attention of the whole country. Earlier, Chair, Yi Nagaland Chapter and proprietor, Rainbow Paints, Vijay Sharma and CII representative and director, Clairvoyance Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Neisakholie Rupreo, delivered the opening remarks. Later during in the business session, Orenthung Ovung and Kvulo Lorin, were appointed as Chair and co-Chair respectively of YI Nagaland Chapter for the session 2017-18.
