Nearly 99% of enterprises in the northeast are micro and in the case of Nagaland it could be more than 99%, a SIDBI official informed today.
Deputy General Manager, SIDBI, Guwahati, Sanjeev Gupta said this while inaugurating the MEPP office as the chief guest here at Dimapur today.
Sponsored by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Guwahati Regional Office, the Micro Enterprises Promotion Programme (MEPP) was launched at Alaphra Group Conference Hall, Dimapur.
MEPP was a flagship programme of SIDBI for capacity building, Gupta said but informed that SIDBI do not directly fund entrepreneurs but works in collaboration with other credit linkage banks.
The implementing agency for Dimapur has been given to Alaphra Group which has been given a target of grounding 200-250 units, he added.
Gupta said any unit set up under MEPP should be in sync with the local resources available and expressed the hope that Alaphra Group would identify budding entrepreneurs and provide market linkage.
He also urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the project sincerely and not for the sake of getting subsidy. It was pointed out that 99% of enterprises in the northeast were micro and that in the case of Nagaland it could be more than 99%.
