Nearly 70% long distance train restored

Maligaon, October 5 (MExN): Out of 71 pairs of long distance trains which had to be suspended during the second week of August owing to heavy flood damage of railway tracks, 48 pairs have already been restored. This was informed in a press release by the North East Frontier Railways (NFR).   “The remaining services are also going to be restored in a planned way,” the NFR informed while clarifying that some sections of media reporting that about 80% train remain cancelled “is not based on facts”.   “After the damage at multiple locations caused by unprecedented floods, railway officials worked 24x7 to restore the breached rail communication in various sections spreading a vast area,” the NFR stated and claimed that their efforts had resulted in the resumption of direct train services from North East to the rest of India with introduction of Goods train w.e.f. August 29 and Passenger trains w.e.f. September 3.   Trains are being restored step by step with the gradual improvement of situation, the NFR stated and added that it is trying its best to restore services of all the cancelled trains as early as possible.
