NEC funded coffee washing stations in Nagaland inaugurated

Kohima, March 15 (MExN): Advisor Land Resources, Ikuto Zhimomi inaugurated Coffee Washing Station at YES Agro Park, Gariphema Kohima on March 15. The project was funded by North East Council (NEC).

A DIPR report stated that in his inaugural speech, the Advisor mentioned Gariphema village as “one of the luckiest villages to avail the facilities”. 

On behalf of the farmers Ikuto also thanked Commissioner Secretary and all officers of the department for taking extra mile to help the farmers. Asserting that coffee is one of world’s most selling cash crops, he informed that the state government is giving importance to coffee growers because it has lots of potential and Market Avenue globally. Besides, Nagaland produces organic coffee free from chemicals or pesticides, he added.

He also appealed the farmers to be hard working and produce quality coffee as the state government has already provided coffee roasting machines and other facilities. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Albert Ngullie, Director LRD and speech on behalf of beneficiary was proposed by Vibeilietuo Kets.

Special number was presented by Keduolhoukho Kire and vote of thanks by Dr Menuosietuo Tseikha.

Another Coffee Washing Station, funded by North East Council (NEC) was inaugurated at Naga Tribal Coffee, near High Court Tsiesema, Kohima by Advisor, Land Resources, G Ikuto Zhimomi as the special guest. 

Speaking at the inaugural function, Advisor G Ikuto Zhimomi highlighted the need to start businesses from small startups into big business. He mentioned that the coffee business startups do not necessarily need to have a plantation. He had mentioned nine largest coffee entrepreneurs in the state out of which only two entrepreneurs have their own plantations. He also mentioned the success achieved by Nagaland coffee in the global market. 

He pointed out the market value will be around Rs 236 crore few years down the line once all the plantations achieve harvesting stage and called upon the young educated unemployment people to take up these businesses with seriousness. 

The programme was chaired by Director Land Resources Department, Albert Ngullie, while vote of thanks was delivered by PO, V Vikugha Sema.
