DIMAPUR, FEB 1 (MExN): Terming the Wokha-Bokajan NEC Road as sub-standard road, the Public Grievances Cell, Bhandari has today expressed its displeasure with the Border Road Organization (BRO) for non-completion of the said road. Though NEC had approved the repairing of 92.80 Kms road from Wokha to Bokajan at a cost of 57.15 crore, the road was never completed as expected by the people.
Despite repeated request to the CE (BRO), Dimapur and Commander (BRO) In-charge of Wokha District stationed at Kohima by the Public Grievances Cell after ascertaining the actual condition of the road, no repair has been made till date stated Mhonjan Lotha, Chairman Public Grievances Cell in a release. Stating that the road will go off at any moment, Mhonjan stated the public carrier trucks and busses could not ply as the road is too small. He stated that some culverts require heavy repairing and also that bushes are growing in the middle of the road.
The Public Grievances Cell, Bhandari has therefore, requested BRO to repair the said road up to the standard in the larger interest of public of the area keeping in mind the credibility of the organization. While stating that the construction of Wokha-Bhandari road will serve the state economy in a big way, the Public Grievances Cell, Bhandari has also requested Gauri Chatterjee, Secretary DONER and Chairperson, Task Force to clear the Wokha-Merapani Road during her special visit to Nagaland, which Mhonjan stated was in the state priority.
