The NEC team from agri and allied departments headed by Agriculture Production Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema, visited villages in the Tizu valley under Zunheboto district on September 15, and held meetings with various organizations and village Kukamis (headmen). 

The meeting proceeded with a representation served by NDPP Zunheboto Region that highlighted the problems of the farmers of Tizu valley as well as the agricultural potentialities of the region. 

During the meeting, Zunheboto Area Public Organisation (ZAPO) President Kikheto Muru spoke on behalf of the Zunheboto range, and pointed out that crops provided by the government are often left to spoil as feasibility of soil and other conditions are not tested beforehand. In this regard, he suggested that the department test the soil conditions before giving out seeds or saplings so that proper care can be taken to ensure that the right crops are grown on the right type of soil.

Kukamis from villages under Tizu valley also raised issues concerning their fields and hoped for solutions. 

APC Kikheto Sema also spoke during the meeting and pointed out that the valley is blessed with sufficient water and fertile lands. He emphasized that the allied agri departments have come together to work hand in hand for the betterment of all people. He assured that departments will provide winter crops at the end of the tour and also do their best to provide facilities that will help enhance will agricultural production. 

Kikheto maintained that Tizu Valley has the capacity to produce enough agricultural goods for the entire Zunheboto district and reduce the district’s dependency on imported agricultural products. 

He further said that the officials would do their jobs and as such urged the village elders to do theirs by spreading the message to the villages. 

The meeting, chaired by Khehoshe Yepthomi, President NDPP Zunheboto Region, begun and concluded with mass prayers.

The NEC team further headed to Aghunato subdivision, and will also visit other villages in the region.
