Kohima, February 23 (MExN): As part of North East Council’s (NEC) golden jubilee celebration, workshops were organised in two educational institutions in Nagaland. Among the 30 higher education institutes identified for organising the programme free of cost, Kohima College and SASRD NU were also included. 

Kohima College: A capacity-building workshop on ‘Campus to Corporate- Advancing Northeast’ was organised by Students’ Counselling and Mentoring & Career Guidance Cell, Kohima College in collaboration with North East Council (NEC) on February 21.

Kohima College in a press release stated that this initiative of North East Council (NEC), DoNER  is implemented by NEDFi was launched in May 2022 with the objective of providing mentoring support to the youth of North East region in the fields of education, employment and entrepreneurship.

Organised for the 6th semester students of BA and B.Com, Kohima College, the workshop comprised of two sessions with Nishie Agarwal, Learning & Development Specialist, and Chandni Shivam, Junior Consultant, as resource persons. 

The programme was chaired by Temjenrenla, Assistant Professor, Department of English with vote of thanks delivered by Diesino Soho, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. 

NU SASRD: A workshop on ‘Campus to Corporate’ was organised by SASRD: NU on February 20 with programme coordinator Chandani Shivam and Nishi Agrawal, Learning and development specialist from NEDFi, Guwahati. 

A total of 110 students comprising B.Sc (Hons) Ag, B.Voc (Horticulture Technology) M.Sc (Ag) as well PhD from different departments of SASRD, attended the intensive workshop in view of developing a good resume for job application, and interviewing skills, stated a press release. 

Chandani Shivam gave the detailed overview of the Advancing North East portal (www.advancingnortheast.in), a digital initiative of North East Council, Ministry of DONER, Government of India and implemented by NEDFi. 

Nishi Agrawal, a corporate trainer and consultant at NEDFi conducted specialised sessions on how to develop a good resume so that it can attract the attention of leading recruiters. She deliberated on the step by step procedure and the contents which need to be included in a good resume. In the next session she gave a presentation on developing skills to face job interviews confidently. 

She deliberated on the procedure of identifying ones strength and overcoming weaknesses to excel in career. 

Emphasis was laid on developing critical thinking ability, alienating as per job description and highlighting work experience to build confidence among the young minds for success in pursuing a cherished career and future roles.
