NECU affirm consumer resolutions

Dimapur, Oct 7 (MExN): The emergency meeting of Nagaland Electrical Contractor’s Union (NECU) at Dimapur discussed problems faced by the consumers and the contractors in the State and after a thorough deliberation decided to re-affirm existing resolutions of the union. It resolved that no outsiders or unauthorized party or individual will be allowed to undertake any electrical installation work including internet wiring and re-wiring works within the State. The meeting decided that no electrical contractor is allowed to lend or give contractor’s writing pad to unauthorized party as per the Indian Electricity Rules and that no test certificate will be issued to the consumer unless the work is done by the valid license holder of the electrical contractor. The union notified that the consumers should inform the power department to confirm the contractor’s license before awarding any electrical installation work and has warned the supervisors and electricians under the contractors not to undertake any electrical installation work unless directed by the concerned contractor. 

The meeting also resolved to conduct surprise checking throughout the entire state periodically to check the unauthorized works. As resolved earlier, all the electrical contractors having valid license are reminded to deposit Rs 1000 to the Treasurer of the Union as yearly contribution fee and to submit 20 photocopies of Contractor’s license issued by the electrical Inspector of Nagaland along with the signatures of the employed supervisors and electricians within a month from the date of this publication. 

The NECU in support of the Indian Electricity Rules & Acts, Government standing order, Power Department norms has informed all executive authorities of the state Government department to abide by the Indian Electrical Rules & Acts to avoid misunderstanding between the authorities and the union.
