‘Wandering Minds Art Vault’ opens
Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): ‘Wandering Minds’ held the opening of its art gallery, ‘Wandering Minds Art Vault’ at Midland opposite Euro Kids on February 10.
Speaking on the occasion after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the chief guest, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, President of All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), Dimapur hoped that Wandering Minds gives wonderful ideas and the wandering of thoughts brings cherishment, upliftment and substantial development of creative skills. He opined that there should be greater flexibility in the present curriculum whereby there is inter-disciplinary exchange and inter-linking of subjects so that there is better exposure and utilization of one’s skills.
Dr Andrew supported “holistic learning and conceptualizing in the present education system as opposed to rote learning.” He stated that Nagaland is among the few states of India which have the highest unemployment rate at present which he attributed to the lack of proper industries, medical colleges and lack of support towards educational institutions by the government.
“In present day Nagaland, our greed has taken over our needs,” he stated and questioned “the attitude of the state government as to whether they are developing themselves or the people whom they govern.” He lamented that though Nagaland has no dearth of skilled and talented people, there are only few individuals and organizations which truly support those skills and talents. Therefore, he expressed hope that the Wandering Minds will prove to be a huge platform for the young artists of Nagaland and help them in expressing their unique talents and skill-sets, thereby becoming leaders to lead the future of the young generation.
About Wandering Minds
Wandering Minds, Media & Information Team in a press release stated that ‘Wandering Minds’ initially started off as an art institute with its focus in child art and guiding young artists to mature in their craft. However, realizing that there is a bigger responsibility to nurture talented artists, and seeing the lack of platform for artists, it widened its horizon.
Currently Wandering Minds offers B.Voc. Course in Fine Arts (3 years degree course), Apprentice Course and short term courses (Sculpting, Calligraphy, Painting and Drawing).
Keeping its focus on, 'learn and earn', Wandering Minds Art Vault, was set up to encourage the fine art students to display their artworks, and make profits out of their hard work. Apart from this, to encourage the students to become independent in their own fields, Wandering Minds offered a cheque of Rupees one lakh which would fund their ‘dream project’, and help them become entrepreneurs. The cheque was presented by the Chief Guest, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema.
