Need to implement solution more urgent now: NPCC

DIMAPUR, JUNE 11 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today stated that the current pandemic “should not be the excuse to delay implementation of political solution any longer.”

“Rather, because of the pandemic, implementation of solution has become more urgent,” a press release from the NPCC President, K Therie said.

It pointed out that “over twenty thousand educated and experienced youth are returning after losing jobs.” “They had ventured outside because there are no jobs in the State and for the want to live peacefully. Today however, they have no option but to return. We already have over lakhs of unemployed youth because jobs were not created for years. Further, the youth are angered with no hope for backdoor appointment and no more regard for merit for many years,” the Congress added.

It said that the option available for “these decent and qualified youth is to quickly join the political movement and become a real force of challenge.” “Because of division, there is a little confusion which group to join. Moreover, external forces may gain a foothold if increased numbers are available,” it stated.

It further stated that the Government of India’s thinking that “there is nothing to lose and they can wait for 1000 years, needs to change.”

“24 years of lethargic negotiations, communalism and racism pressures and stagnant economy are pushing reluctant Nagas towards plan B. The people of Nagaland cannot allow to be taken for a ride anymore. It is time to rise above religious denominations, political parties, civil societies and factions, to find a realistic alternative,” it asserted.
The NPCC meanwhile claimed that the government of the day has “no plan to boost the economy to create jobs.”

“All Industrial policies brought forward have failed to take off because of multi-taxation and risk of life. Government has no control. Instead, they tell us to compromise. If one cannot work peacefully with tax recessions and land use permissions as is given in other states, we cannot think of creating jobs. The bottleneck towards development is the non resolution of the political issue,” the Congress stated.

It further accused the Nagaland Government of only paying “lip service” to the talk for an early solution.

“They are not for solution in the true spirit. Government of the day does not want to understand both sides of the reason and its own responsibility like NPC/NNO did. Their inner mind is to recover their election expenditures and collect funds to buy votes for the next election even in this pandemic,” the NPCC alleged.

The NPCC stated that in this situation, implementation of solution “is the only gateway to make a new start.”

Referring to the willingness of the present 60 MLAs to step down to make way for a solution, the NPCC said that the Government of India “may request the State government to resign on its own to pave the way.”

“If not, Governor is at liberty to dissolve the house and implement the solution under a neutral Government,” it stated.
