Need to respect and accept each other to attain peace

Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): Boro-Kachari Catholic Community celebrated its 6th foundation day of St. Dominic Savio at Naharbari, Dimapur under the banner of ‘Peace be with you, as the Father has sent me, so I am sending you’ on July 17.

A press release from the Peace Channel desk stated that Boro-Kachari Catholic Community is one of the ‘People’s Forum for Peace’ formed in Dimapur under the initiative of Peace Channel.

During the programme, Caroline Leisan, Coordinator, Peace Channel and Woman President of Holy Cross Parish exhorted on the importance of living in unity irrespective of different denominations and religion one belongs to by shading away those factors  that fuels conflict, as that of- ism, prejudices, and stereotyping.

“The need to respect and accept each other irrespective of differences is the only means to attain peace within family, church and community at large,” she said. 

 “The community leaders of Boro–Kachari Catholic Community have sowed the seed of peace by bringing together individuals from different denominations to celebrate the event,” said Rev Dr Fr CP Anto, Director Peace Channel. 

Fr Anto also stated that this is the right time to bring people together for peace however peace is not achieved overnight neither is it one-man’s work; Peace building  is a long process and requires a collective efforts and genuine commitment from every individual of the community into achieving positive peace.

“And to achieve that, Peace must begin with self and once inner is realized, it is projected outward, towards the family, friends, community peace leading to Beloved Community and 2030 vision of Peace Channel that is to develop Nagaland as the most peaceful State in India,” he added. 

The event was celebrated with the presence of individuals from different denomination and culture exchange was observed. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by John Basumatary, Catechist, St DSBKCC and benediction by Ruth Basumatary, Advisor Woman Department St DSBKCC.
