Need to restructure, streamline activities of SIRD & RD: Metsubo

Kohima, April 12 (MExN): State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) held an introductory meeting with Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir at SIRD Computer Lab Kohimaon April 11.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Metsubo Jamir stressed on the need to restructure and streamline the activities of SIRD and Department of Rural Development so that the two departments complement each other and work hand in hand towards a common goal, stated a DIPR report. He said that SIRD must expand their activities through assimilation and diversification of more programmes of the Department of Rural Development and also encouraged the department to enhance their media and printing facilities so as to facilitate the increasing need for publications and training materials.  The Minister said he was impressed with the professional approach of the officers of the department while carrying out the various programmes and activities assigned to the department. The department should also take up activities to sensitize the public regarding its activities, he added.

Earlier, a brief presentation of the activities and programmes of SIRD was presented by Principal, ETC Phek, Dr Kedise Pucho; Senior Lecturer, SIRD, Dr Juthsutho Phoji and Senior Lecturer, SIRD, Dr Adino Vitso respectively, The programme was chaired by Director SIRD, Vesato and concluding remark was given by Addl. Director, SIRD, Imlimenla Longkumer.
