NEET 2017: Parents group seeks seat allocation as per merit list

DIMAPUR, JULY 18 (MExN): A group claiming to represent parents of NEET 2017 candidates has issued a letter to the Directorate of Technical Education, seeking accommodation of students who passed out in the merit list of NEET 2017 based on merit list.     The letter, sent through Shikatoli Sumi, Secretary and Khezheli Sumi, Convener of the group, said that the Central Board of School Education had conducted the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) on May 7, 2017 and declared the results on June 23, 2017 based on merit list.     The letter asked that allocation of MBBS and BDS seats to students should be based purely on NEET merit list and that “no seats should be allocated on the basis of special reservation or quota to students belonging to any tribe or community.”     Arguing that this exam was conducted by the center and not by the state, it demanded that accommodation to the allotted seats should be “solely based on the list of the merit students passed out as declared for the better interest of the hard working students who have made to the merit list and as per the traditional practice of reservation for all fairness.”     Informing that there has been no notification neither any criteria has been stated by the center nor the state and since the exam was conducted by the CBSE, it reasoned that the state has “no jurisdiction to levy any criteria or implement the traditional seat accommodation.”
