Wokha, July 20 (MExN): North East India Council for Relief and Development (NEICORD) conducted the fifth district forum meeting for Wokha district on July 20 at the District Planning Machinery Cell conference hall with volunteers and leaders from various villages.
Team Metamorphosis in a press release informed that Limaakum Jamir, District Coordinator of NEICORD for Wokha district highlighted the purpose of the meeting. “In order to receive maximum participation/ feedback from the stakeholders today’s meeting is community focused,” he stated.
The main topic of the meeting being ‘advocacy and the goal of advocacy,’ he explained that advocacy is the deliberate process based on demonstrated evidence to directly and indirectly influence decision makers, stakeholders and relevant audiences to support and implement the actions that contribute to the fulfillment of citizens/beneficiaries’ rights.
To support the flagship programmes of the Government of India, he added, several international and national organizations like Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED), a Paris based organization, Nanda Talukdar Foundation (NTF), North East India Council on Relief and Development (NEICORD), and the Public Affairs Center (PAC) are working together, for which, the funding is being done by the European Union (EU).
The delegates participated in the discussion by raising various questions with regard to the flagship programmes, ways and means of implementation. The volunteers also shared their experiences in the field.
In North East India, the programme is being carried out at Goalpara and Cachar in Assam, Churachandpur and Chandel in Manipur, Lawngtlai in Mizoram, Ribhoi district in Meghalaya and Wokha in Nagaland with NEICORD and Team Metamorphosis partnership.
