The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathanin (NYKS) in collaboration with the Green Team, Mokokchung organised Neighborhood Youth Parliament at Jubilee Memorial College, Mokokchung on February 19.

Lanuakum Jamir and Arentemjen were the two resource persons. Lanuakum spoke on Depression and anxiety among the youths: Symptoms, causes and treatment. He emphasised the importance of mental health problem in the Naga society but due to ignorance the society don't understand the concept of mental health and bear the problem in silence.

He also talked about the kinds of depression, its causes, symptoms and diagnosis and the services available to patients through District Mental Health Programme. He encouraged that we should not hesitate to ask for help but reach out to a therapist and get evaluated and treated for depression.

Arentemjen spoke on the role of Youth in Socio economic Development where he challenged the students to rethink why our socio economic conditions is lacking behind when we have the potentials and resources. He asserted that our work ethics have been hijacked by false pride. He also added that Nagas have become job seekers rather than job creators.

The Neighborhood Youth parliament is held three times every year under the aegis of NYKS with an objective to empower the youth in contemporary socio-economic developmental issues and to articulate the importance of local administration.

The youth parliament was attended by students of Jubilee Memorial College at their college premises.
