Neisakhoto wins 76th Kigwema Wrestling Meet

Kohima, January 16 (MExN): A young 24 year old Neisakhoto Thorie hailing from Seca Khel emerged as champion of the 76th Wrestling Meet of Kigwema village on January 15. Organised by the Kigwema Youth Organisation, the 76th Wrestling meet was held on January 15 and January 16.   Kekhrie Yhoshü from Khamima Khel won the second position while the third was bagged by Teisovikho Thorie from Seca Khel and Akhoto Kere from Khamima Khel.  

Reaffirming the unity and integrity of the village, Medo Yhokha, President, Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) who graced the closing ceremony as the Guest of Honor stated that the principle qualities and values that Kigwema is known for has been created, not in the present time but by the ancestors who safeguarded and upheld values for the sake of the future. Therefore, Yhokha urged the village to continue to lead and guide the people with inclusivity and unity so that the young can continue the legacy. “Our outlook on relationship with the environment needs to be redefined,” affirmed Yhokha who stressed on the issue of climate change and environmental issues. The attitude of “My property, My Way” needs to change for the sake of our future generation, added the AYO President requesting the village to protect and safeguard the natural resources, wildlife and eco system.   Sportspersons have a responsibility as ambassadors of integrity and humility, concluded Medo Yhokha exhorting the sportspersons on maintaining discipline and a healthy lifestyle, A special feature of the meet was the Air Rifle Shooting Competition which was initiated in 2006 with an objective of promoting healthy competition and reducing hunting in the village.
