NEITA flays Manipur violence, offers solidarity & demand justice

Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): The North East India Theological Association (NEITA), on May 11, condemned the ‘senseless act of violence’ in Manipur and stated that it stands in solidarity will the victims anddemanded justice for them.  

Against the backdrop of volatile situation in Manipur, a general meeting of NEITA was held from May 8-9 in Guwahati and several decisions regarding the issue were made. 

The meeting strongly condemned the senseless act of violence met out to innocent victims resulting in the loss of precious lives and  properties, stated the Association in a press release received here. 

NEITA, formed by theological colleges in the region, also flayed the alleged arson attacks on the Trulock Theological Seminary, a prominent member of the Association. 

Accordingly, NEITA said that it stands in solidarity will the victims of violence in Manipur, and conveyed its support to them as well as offered condolences to the families of all those who have lost their lives.

If further extended its prayers and supports to all the members of the Trulock Theological Seminary and their families.
The Association also called upon all faith communities to pray and work for peace and harmony between all communities.

Meanwhile, the NEITA urged head of state and the administrative machinery in Manipur and the Centre to expedite the efforts and process of rehabilitation of the victim who have been living in the camps. It also called for restoration of destroyed and damaged properties.

The Association also urged the aforesaid entities to expedite the process of justice so that the perpetrators would be accordingly punished. 

Initiate and promote inter-community relations in order to bring peace and harmony to society, it added.  

The press release from the NEITA President, Dr BL Nongbri and Secretary, Rev Rosiamliana Tochhawng also called upon all the citizens in the state and the region to work together for a lasting solution and to live together in harmony.
