Nepali Litterateur’s birth anniversary celebrated

Kohima | July 14 : The Masterpiece of Nepali Litterateur Bhanu Bhakta Acharya still remains afresh in the heart of Nepali and Gorkha communities as they celebrated 197th Birth Anniversary with pomp and gaiety at Academy Hall today and Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall under the aegis of North East Region Service Nepali Association (NERSNA) and Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) later in the afternoon.
Wing Commander and Deputy Director of Rajya Sainik Board Nagaland Rajeev Dong graced the occasion as the guest of honor during the morning session. Exhorting the gathering, Dong said one of the sweetest and easiest languages is Nepali thereby one should be proud to speak Nepali as even other non-Nepalese too are fond of speaking Nepali.  Dong encouraged the gathering to uphold the Nepali tradition and also impart the same to younger generation.
Earlier NERSNA President Rukman Khanal chaired and also tendered the welcome address while general secretary Lalmani Bhusal anchored the programme. Raising of curtain and garlanding of the portrait of Poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, recitation of Ramayana by Raju Khadka, brief life sketch of the great Nepali poet by Hema Kumari Sharma, special song were some of the highlights of the celebration. NERSNA president also presented the Balkrishna Samajseva Award 2011 to O. B. Thapa and NERSNA vice president (Org) Maniram Ale tendered the vote of thanks.
At Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari Kohima, H.B. Rai Divisional Accounts Officer Police Engineering Project, Kohima graced the occasion as chief guest while Dr. Shanta Gurung, Department of Hindi Kohima Science College was the guest of honor while GPPK president B.B Gurung delivered the welcome address.      
The poet masterpiece biggest achievement was the translation of Bhanubhaktey Ramayan’s in Nepali where it became the common language for the Nepali Community eventually. Died at the age of 56 years (1814-1870), his popular art piece still remains in the heart of the Nepali Community, as the community still observes the poets’ anniversary with songs and dances.
