Nsong, November 3 (MExN): The road construction in Nsong area under Peren district has resumed following the sanction of Rs 123.96 crore under North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS).

The Nsong Area Public Organisation (NAPO), President, Wangsam Riame in a press release said that for many years now, the commuters of the area had to suffer due to bad road conditions. “However, under the North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS), an amount of Rs 123.96 crore has been sanctioned for Tening – Lekie road project which covers a stretch of 37.5 kms,” he stated.

Following which, tender notice was issued to begin the work in 2019, but it came to a halt due to legal proceedings between contractors. This year, in March, the road construction was taken up by M/S Naagaamii Infratech pvt. Ltd, he added.

Till date, the construction work has covered a stretch from Ngoulong Lodi to Ngam village, till Nchan village covering more than 10 kms.

“As the work has been progressing well,” the NAPO president and PWD (Roads & Bridges) Nagaland “have requested groups, organisations, and villages to refrain from disturbing the construction work, rather appeal to them for cooperation so that the road construction can be completed smoothly.”
