Kohima, February 7 (MExN): The North Eastern Region Service Nepali Association (NERSNA), Kohima has expressed shock and horror at the January 30 rape of a minor girl in Kohima Town by one police personnel. The “heartless act” committed on the victim who has intellectual disability is clearly “a murder of humanity and the death of conscience,” stated NERSNA, Kohima in a press statement. “If a law enforcer can blatantly commit such act, where is the safety of our girls and women irrespective of tribes, race or colour?” it questioned. “Where will our girls go for protection." The press note issued by Maniram Ale, President, further condemned the incident and appealed to the authority concerned to provide justice to the victim and award befitting and exemplary punishment to the accused as per the law. The Association also appealed to every right thinking citizens and organisations to strongly condemn the act in the interest of humanity and safety of our women.
