Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Hall- cum-Indoor Stadium inaugurated in Phesama

Nagaland Art & Culture and Treasuries & Accounts, Advisor K Konngam Konyak today inaugurated Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Hall-cum-Indoor Stadium at Rhododendron Resort, Phesama under Kohima district.

Addressing the inaugural function, Konngam commended the successful and quality construction of the hall and hoped that it will serve the people well its purpose.

Urging the people to make the best use of the provided facility, he was optimistic that it will facilitate the youth to hone their skills in indoor games and cultural activities.

He also stressed on the need to take care of the government property. Stating that the government has been creating many assets for the benefit of the public, Konngam told the people to love and maintain it well and derive maximum benefit from it. He also thanked the department, executing agency and contractor for the completion of the construction on time.

Delivering welcome address, Kovi Meyase, secretary, Art & Culture Department, Nagaland, was optimistic that the newly created facility will serve as an arena of excellence not only in sports but in other fields as well.

Briefing the project report, Er Talitemsu Jamir, Executive Engineer, Art & Culture department said that “Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Hall-cum-Indoor Stadium at Phesama amounting to Rs. 830 lakhs was a 100% funded project by the Government of India, Ministry of Culture to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

He informed that the sanction from the Ministry was accorded on 14th July 2022 and after observing codal formalities, the work order was allotted to M/S Ketoupuzo Lhoushe on 29 November 2022.

The time of completion given was 24 months and the contractor could complete the project ahead of schedule of completion period.

“This hall cum Indoor Stadium will be a suitable place to organize indoor sports events such as Volleyball, Table Tennis, Gymnastics, Handball, Boxing, wrestling, Basketball, Badminton and Culture event,” Er. Jamir said.

He said that this asset will benefit not only athletes and sports enthusiasts, but it answers the needs of the community.

“It will help people to socialize and will have a positive impact on the development of sports,” he added.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Peihau Nsarangbe, Assistant Director, Art & Culture  while Pastor Rokuovilie Zashiimo, Baptist Church Phesama pronounced dedicatory prayer. Keziah Semy presented special number while vote of thanks was proposed by Adela Moa, Director, Art & Culture, Nagaland.
