New association of TV producers formed

DIMAPUR, DEC 28 (MExN): TV Producers and members belonging to the electronic media in the state formed a new union by the name, Electronic Media Association of Nagaland (EMAN) at its first ever meeting held at Kohima on Wednesday. An interim body with renowned TV producer, Kivini Shohe as president and 5 other members and a treasurer were elected at the meeting.

Informing this in a release, the newly elected interim president said that it was the long felt need of the local producers to have this kind of forum to address the issues confronting the fraternity who have long been under the shadow of outside producers. Kivini also informed that local producers have started to grow from few individuals to a large group now and that the need to form a forum was necessitated.

The meeting also deliberated at length the plight of casual employees at DDK, Kohima and resolved to stand by their rights and work towards upliftment of the members of the electronic media.

It also decided to give a representation to Prasar Bharati officials on the issue of criteria, meager budget allotment and bogus producers in the Commissioned Programme category.

The other elected members include Metevinou Ate Sakhrie, Wabang Moa, K.Nurumi, Peter and Sophy Lasuh with Tianla Jamir as Treasurer. The next meeting of EMAN has been fixed on January 14, 2006. All the members concerned including those who could not make it to the first meeting have been asked to attend the meeting positively and bring along with them, their bio-data along with a passport size photograph each.
