Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture inaugurated a new common facility cum collection centre at Okotso village on July 12.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Mhathung Yanthan highlighted the region's potential for cultivating fresh organic vegetables and fruits. He noted that the absence of adequate storage facilities has been a major obstacle for farmers who wish to increase their production volumes.

Yanthan emphasized to the villagers that the new facility would enhance their ability to store and distribute produce to other districts and markets, encouraging increased production. He also highlighted that while the storage facility is situated in Okotso village, neighboring villages are invited to utilize the storage system as well
Sunep Longchar, the District Agriculture Officer for Wokha, emphasised that although the centre is now constructed, its success relies on the farmers. He encouraged them to keep the facility well-stocked with fresh produce.

Later, Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture, visited Government Higher Secondary School in Sungro Village. He expressed his delight at the school's 100 percent pass rate in the HSLC examination 2024, commending it for its consistent academic excellence and for regularly producing outstanding students and results.
Yanthan stated that he is in regular communication with the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to address the school's concerns and assured continued support and future visits.
During his visit, teachers raised concerns about the inadequate infrastructure in the newly constructed higher school building. In response, Yanthan mentioned that he had discussed the matter with the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, which had promised to address the infrastructure needs by August.
R Mhonluni Yanthan, the Principal, noted that the school conducts after-school camps where students return to continue studying, but they face electricity issues.
To support the students, Yanthan provided a solar inverter, a Xerox machine, a computer set, two brush cutters, and agricultural supplies, as agriculture is a vocational subject at the school. He assured further support with additional equipment in the future. Currently, the school has 139 students enrolled.
