The incomplete new Dhansiri Bridge (near Old Dhansiri Bridge), at Purana Bazar in Dimapur.
Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The delay in the completion of new Dhansiri Bridge (near Old Dhansiri Bridge), at Purana Bazar in Dimapur has once again caught the attention of Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB). The construction of the bridge started in October 2010, and was suppose to be constructed within 22 months.
The Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) for the interest of general public has made an appeal to the State Government/Border Roads Organization to complete the bridge as early as possible to avoid mishap or disaster posed by the outdated bridge. DRFCB Chairman, Hokhetokiba in a press release stated that ‘the pillars of aged and new bridge disturbed the normal flow of river causing massive soil erosion. This bridge life span expired and rusted bridge may collapse anytime.’
The Board also added that the completion of this bridge will ease traffic congestion and shorten the distance to great extend. Therefore, the Board appeal and also warn the department and authority concerned to complete the bridge at the earliest, failing on the part of authority, parties concerned shall be held responsible.
