New Health Sub-Centre to provide service under Niuland

Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): A new Health Sub-Centre was inaugurated by Dr T Pangjung Sangtam, Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, at Old Showuba under Niuland Block on March 6. 

During the inaugural ceremony, Dr Pangjung called on the community of Old Showuba and New Showuba to take ownership of the health centre and said that future development of the centre depends on the active involvement of the community in the health program activities. Community participation in the health activities is essential in ensuring that the people are provided with quality health care system, he added.

Further, Dr Panjung stated that the health sub-centre provides basic health services such as immunization, BP checkup, blood sugar testing, ANC checkup etc, which plays a major role in preventing many diseases that are prevalent in the society.

Tovishe, Chairman of VHC Old Showuba stated that the village authority had been requesting the government to establish a health centre for over 40 years and expressed his gratitude to the government, especially the Health Department for finally fulfilling their dream as the village celebrates its jubilee.

The programme was chaired by H Yanklumong, Council Secretary, Old Showuba while invocation prayer was led by Rev. B Tochumong , Showuba Baptist Church. K Janger, VCC, Old Showuba delivered words of gratitude. Officials present during the inaugural ceremony includes Dr Antoly Suu, Dy.CMO; Dr Benchilo, DTO; Dr Heto, ZLO; Dr Rebecca, DPO (UIP/RCH); Dr Bokai, MO  Kuhuboto PHC; DPM (NHM) and District Media Officer (NHM).
