New HIV infections ‘increasing’ in Nagaland

Pfutsero, July 1 (MExN): Giving a presentation on HIV/AIDS scenario of Nagaland, Dr. Vinito L. Chishi, State Consultant Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA-Nagaland) shared concern related to “increasing number of HIV new infection in the State particularly in district like Dimapur, Kohima, Tuensang, Kiphire etc.” 

He was addressing the HIV/AIDS advocacy programme held at Baptist Theological College (BTC) Pfutsero at the College Auditorium on June 28.  

During the programme, Dr. Vinito stressed on the importance of church advocacy in response to HIV/AIDS and encouraged the students who are preparing to enter into church ministry and mission to make use of their leadership opportunity by taking positive initiatives in addressing the issues related to HIV/AIDS with regard to reducing stigma, discrimination and prevention aiming towards creating an AIDS free generation in the days to come.  

Hukatoli from LFA made a presentation on social concern on HIV/AIDS and living responsibly with particular emphasis on its consequences, challenges and importance.

Earlier, introduction and opening prayer was done by Dr. Eyingbeni Humtsoe Nienu, Principal BTC and the closing prayer by Dr. Vekutulu L. Veyie, Vice-Principal BTC. All the students and faculty members of the college attended the programme. This was stated in a press release issued by LFA-Nagaland State Consultant.
