Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): A new Indoor Badminton Stadium with Rostrum was inaugurated at Medziphema village on December 15 by Advisor for Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs Zhaleo Rio. The stadium was constructed under LADP Iconic Project 2021-22 through the initiative of Rio who is also the local MLA, according to a press release received here.

In his inaugural speech after dedication of the stadium, the Advisor acknowledged the villagers for their positive cooperation in all spheres throughout the construction period. He opined that the large stadium can be used conveniently as a multipurpose hall where apart from playing different games, other multi-events and village meetings can be conducted at any time.

Rio called upon the youths to utilise the stadium to its optimum stating that the prospect in games and sports are only increasing except for the fact that sportspersons should maintain “strict discipline, good dietary habits, strong determination and institutionalised training, etc.,” the release stated.

Speaking on the forthcoming elections scheduled in 2023, Rio stressed that election processes will be conducted “with or without a solution of the Naga political imbroglio.” He warned people to be wary of different adversaries and instead, advised the villagers to remain committed to the principles of truthful, unbiased judgment during the time for decisive action next year. On tribal lines, Rio stated that Ghaspani-II constituency is a conglomerate of all tribes, caste or groups and that “tribalism should never be made an issue nor a scapegoat for political motives and interests,” the release stated.

Also speaking at the function, Neikhonyü Kuotsu, GB, expressed gratefulness to the government as well as the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who intervened from the beginning during his tenure as MP, Nagaland, and executed the construction works meticulously. He said that the rostrum is an added feature which was constructed by the MLA as requested by the youths.

Dosau Kuotsu, President, NDPP, 5 Ghaspani-II A/C also lauded Zhaleo Rio for “bringing many infrastructure developments in the constituency” including the Indoor Stadium at Medziphema Village. He also noted that Er Vekho Swuro was the architect of the stadium. Kuotsu further appealed his villagers to be wise in choosing the next leader during elections in order to bring more developments to the area, according to the press release.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Avitsi Nakhro, Secretary, MVC, while Puthaho Kin, CRC Pastor, invoked God's blessings and Akho Kuotsu, Chairman, MVC, delivered the welcome address.
