Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): NPCC President I. Imkong who embarked on his maiden tour after assuming presidentship, pledged to work for the betterment, strengthening and development of the Congress party in Nagaland. “I will not be able to discharge my duties effectively without your active, continued support. I request and solicit your support and cooperation at all times for the development and progress of the Congress party,” he told the party workers.
Sounding a wake up call to action, Imkong said, “Let us shed all past mistakes and feelings. I call upon each and every one of you to join hands, rise up together in one spirit so that together we can bring about changes,” Imkong said and further assured that there was no difference in opinion or approach amongst the Congress leaders and workers.
The NPCC President also expounded on the enrolment criteria and asked the Congress workers at the constituency and District level to go on a massive enrolment drive and increase the strength of the party.
In Mon, MLA and former CLP Leader Chingwang Konyak challenged the party workers to come forth and work hard rather than sit idle hoping that a Congress Govt would be formed in the State. “Provide us with MLAs and we will provide you with a Government,” he assured, stating that it was impossible to form a Government without the requisite numbers.
Addressing the gathering in Zunheboto, MLA C. Apok Jamir who accompanied the entourage said that the Congress is a large and accommodative political party and called upon the party men and women to strengthen and unite the party at large. “By and large, our party is affected by rumors. It should be known that our CLP Leader and NPCC President are working unitedly for the people and with this spirit of cohesiveness and dynamism we are also working,” he said.
The meetings in all the Districts were attended by the respective DCC presidents, all ACCC presidents under the districts, Mahila, Youth and NSUI officials and large number of party workers. Number of NPCC officials also attended the meetings in their respective districts.
