Nagaland Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Women Resources Department, Advisor R Khing inaugurated the Rural Slaughter House and launched Mobile Veterinary Unit at Tseminyu Town on November 23. 

The Rural Slaughter House is a program initiated by the Government of India under the National Flagship Program of National Livestock Mission to assist the Town Councils, local Bodies and Panchayats to manage the cost efficient low cost maintenance and to provide hygienic meat to the public adaptable with rural conditions for pig slaughter in a public private partnership (PPP) under the provision of the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006.

The Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) is an initiation of the GoI under establishment and strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals & Dispensaries (ESVHD) to provide both medicinal and surgical interventions to the farmers’ doorstep.

Khing said that they are to provide prophylactic vaccination to livestock and poultry along with artificial insemination services to the needy cattle farmers and training on extension services on Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services to the farmers.’

He also appealed the public to utilize the provided facilities properly.

Dr Thungben N Yanthan, Additional Director Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Service and Longasen Lotha, ADC and Administrator Tseminyu Town Council also addressed the gathering.

The programme was led by Dr Imomanen Tzudir, CVO Tseminyu.
