Dimapur, May 31 (MExN): A new Health Sub-Centre at Vihoshe village was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. T. Yetovi Tuccu, on May 29.

The programme was chaired by Hokuto I. Swu, Secretary, Vihoshe Village Council. An opening prayer was led by Toliho A. Chophy, Youth Pastor, Vihoshe Village Baptist Church, while Head GB Vihoshe Yepthomi delivered the welcome address. The Sub-Centre was dedicated through a prayer offered by Shinito Yeptho, Pastor, Vihoshe Village Baptist Church.

Speaking at the programme, Dr. Yetovi described the inauguration as “a remarkable day for the village that a Sub-Centre is being opened in their village today and also for the health department as an additional Sub-Centre has been established.” He urged villagers to take ownership of the facility and actively participate in and cooperate with health-related activities.

Dr. Yetovi said the Sub-Centre would focus on basic healthcare services and preventive health measures. He stated that special emphasis would be placed on maternal and child healthcare, including antenatal care and immunisation.

“A healthy mother and child is a healthy society,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of family planning, noting that it involves not only sterilisation but also maintaining adequate spacing between children.

The CMO further stressed the need for health education and encouraged residents to adopt healthy lifestyles by avoiding junk and processed food and engaging in regular physical activity. He also cautioned the community against seeking treatment from unqualified practitioners.

The programme featured a folk song, Lejole, performed by Xutoli S. Yeptho, I/C. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shiheto Yepthomi, Assistant GB, while the benediction was pronounced by Qhutoli S. Awomi, Women Pastor, Vihoshe Village Baptist Church.

Among those present were CMO Chümoukedima, Dr. Yartenla Jamir; Deputy CMO Dimapur, Dr. Y. Kheshika Yeptho; District Programme Officer, Dr. Lhishelo Tsuhah; and staff from the District Programme Management Unit (DPMU) Dimapur and Block Programme Management Unit (BPMU) Dhansiripar.
