New sub-station to boost power supply in Chessore

TUENSANG, JANUARY 19: Parliamentary secretary for CAWD, R Tohanba, inaugurated a 500 KVA 33/11 KV sub-station at Chessore in Tuensang district on January 17.

The sub-station constructed under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.54 crore will augment power supply to Chessore (town and village) and four to five neighbouring villages.

The parliamentary secretary reiterated that electricity is one of the most important requirements to speed up development in the rural areas. Tohanba lauded the Power department for successfully constructing the sub-station and bringing transmission lines from Tuensang district headquarter despite the difficult terrains. He impressed the area people of their responsibility to pay electricity bills in time and to take care and safeguard public property.

Executive engineer (Power) Tuensang, Er. Atoho Achumi also reminded the public on the need to pay power bills in time in order to avoid disconnection. Er. Atoho informed that in 2013, the revenue collected by the Power department in 2013 stood at Rs. 85 crore as against power purchase of Rs. 230 crores. EAC Shamator, Athsangla, also exhorted the gathering. SDO (Electrical) Shamator, Er. JK Limbu chaired the inaugural programme.
