TCG carries out cleanliness drive
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): ‘The Coming Generation- Leading the lead’ (TCG) organized its first cleanliness drive under the theme ‘Nagaland for Change” as a part of the campaign ‘Nagaland Says No to Plastic’ on September 22. The drive started with picking of one use plastics from Rhazu Point to NST Bus stop area, and painted some portion of the fence located in Rhazu Point bus stop. The cleanliness drive was carried out by the Eco Angels of TCG in collaboration with Lower Jail Colony Youth Organization and Abhimanyu founder of Plogga India from Delhi who is currently on tour under theme Beat Plastic Pollution. A press note from the TCG appreciated the volunteers, the participants and the KMC for allowing them to carry out the cleanliness under its jurisdiction. “Let the change begin with you,” the TCG stated, and invited all to “make the journey of possibilities together.”
TSUD welcomes pink bus service initiatives
Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): The Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) has welcomed the initiative taken by the Government of Nagaland for introducing pink bus service for ladies and the City Bus Service in Dimapur. The Union in a press release issued by its President, Rukewezo Wetsah and Information & Publicity Secretary, Pechesin Bukh mentioned that due to escalation of petrol prices, auto fares were increasing and the students in particular were burdened. “The introduction of city buses will immensely benefit all sections of the society,” the Union added.
Workshop on ‘Cultivation of Oyster Mushroom’ held
Phek, September 25 (MExN): One day workshop on ‘Cultivation of Oyster Mushroom’ was organized on September 14 by Mushroom Cultivation Unit, Phek Government College. The programme is funded by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for vocationalization of higher education. Dr. Neilhousano Nakhro and Hitilo Kath were instructors of the certificate course. It was attended by faculty members of the college along with the students undertaking mushroom cultivation course.
Workshop on Silk Samagra held
Kohima, September 25 (MExN): Department of Sericulture, Government of Nagaland organized a one day workshop on Silk Samagra and Restructured Capacity Building Initiatives in Silk Industry at Sericulture Farm, Tsiesema, Kohima on September 11. According to a DIPR report, the main objective of the workshop was to create awareness among the officers and extension workers about the overview of Silk Samagra by highlighting major components-R&D, Training, TOT and IT initiatives; Seed organizations; Coordination and Marketing development; Quality Certification system/export brand. Angau I. Thou, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Sericulture graced the occasion as special guest. Scientists from Central Silk Board, Bangalore and Regional office, Guwahati presented the on topics as resource persons. Altogether 110 officials from directorate and districts attended the workshop.
HIV/AIDS & MRVC sensitization held at Ahthibung
Peren, September 25 (MExN): A medical camp cum sensitization on Measles- Rubella vaccination campaign (MRVC) was held at Green Valley School, Nkio B Village, Ahthibung Block at September 23. The programme was organized by 36 Assam Rifles in convergence with the Medical officers and staffs of PHC Ahthibung and District Aids Program Control Unit (DAPCU), Peren. The camp was headed by Major YS Sheoran along, Dr. Vezokholu Kamo MO and Temsumenla Kipgen, BPM & Staff of PHC Athibung, Rovi Mor, DPO DAPCU and his team, Green Valley School Headmaster and his teaching staff’s and also Nkio B Head GB, Nampui. Altogether, 248 patients were examined. Awareness on HIV/AIDS and blood test were also given to parents and teachers present. Later, parent-teachers interaction on MRVC was also conducted led by Temsumenla Kipgen.
Poshan Maah held at Mkg
Mokokchung, September 25 (MExN): A block level meeting cum Seminar on Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) was held at EAC Office Kobulong on September 24. A press release from Imliyanger, CDPO Kobulong, Mokokchung mentioned that EAC Kobulong, C. Phuniang delivered the welcome and keynote address. CDPO Kobulong, Imliyanger elaborated on what Poshan Abhiyaan (Nutrition Mission) was and also stressed on the importance of celebrating Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month). Dr. Akok, Medical Officer, PHC Longjang also spoke on the need for awareness on nutrition and immunization. Village council members under Kobulong ICDS Project and representatives from women NGOs attended the meeting cum seminar.
