
BFOU elects new office bearers
Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): Brick’s Field Owners Union (BFOU), Dimapur held its general meeting cum election on September 30 for the tenure 2019-2021. Pikuto K Kiho and Raju Singh were elected as the President and General Secretary respectively. Hojei Swu, Aheto Yaptho, and K Thong were elected as advisors while Asungbe and Roukuovi were elected as legal advisors.
BJP Zbto holds meeting
Zunheboto, October 11 (MExN): BJP Zunheboto convened a meeting on September 27 at the party's office in Zunheboto. It was attended by all party workers and mandals of the district, stated a press release by Vitolu Chophy, General Secretary BJP, Zunheboto. Ananda Naryan Mishra, Secretary (Org) BJP Nagaland exhorted the party workers. He was accompanied by State Office bearers Yambos Murry, PDA member; Hurui, Vice President Nagaland Zunheboto in charge; Er Cheong Konyak President ST Morcho Nagaland and K. Hokaito Zhimomi, Zunheboto in-charge. On assurance of Ananda Naryan Mishra to accommodate more office bearers from the district, the district party has decided to send two more members to state level. The meeting was chaired by Shikuto Sema District President.
DBSU appoints new office bearers
Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): Dimapur Bengali Students’ Union (DBSU) has appointed Raja Debnath and Rajen Roy as the Vice President and Finance Secretary of the union respectively for the tenure of two years with immediate effect, stated a press release by its Assistant General Secretary. President of DBSU Subham Nath has congratulated the new office bearers and expressed that great projects will be undertaken under their leadership.
Governor fetes RN Ravi
Kohima, October 11 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has congratulated RN Ravi on his new appointment as the Deputy National Security Advisor (Internal Affairs) and wished him “every success in his new duties”. In a message to Ravi, the governor stated that his appointment as the Deputy NSA was “a recognition of his impeccable stature by the Government of India”. The Governor added that “You worked hard and proved to yourself and everyone what you are capable of. You have our full support”, a press release from the PRO to Governor stated.
Kohima police arrests one
Kohima, October 11 (MExN): Kohima police personnel on October 5, while manning Khuzama Police Inter-State Check Gate, intercepted one Maruti Alto bearing registration No NL07H 4166 and recovered 30 kgs of contraband ganja. One occupant of the vehicle identified as Sarah Heni (36) of Saranamai village, PS-Tadubi, Senapati, Manipur was arrested. PRO, Kohima Police in a release informed that in this connection, a case has been registered for further investigation.
MDDF meets DWO for support
Mokokchung, October 11 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Disabled Forum (MDDF) held an interactive session with the District Welfare Officer (DWO) at his residence on October 5. The Forum apprised the DWO about various hardships and challenges faced by the disabled persons and requested him to support the Forum for the welfare of the disabled. The DWO assured his support and assistance whenever required and wished the Forum success in their future endeavours. The meeting was attended by the office bearers along with executive members of the forum, a press release informed.
PTCSU 4th phase sanitation drive
Kohima, October 11 (MExN): The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) has successfully conducted its 4th phase of sanitation drive with the Govt. Middle School and Christian Home School. PTCSU president Vechihu Khamo thanked both the schools for coming towards for the drive and also encouraged the students to lead a clean and a healthy environment. PTCSU speaker Surhoveyi Khesoh said that the students should be a starter to keep our town and society clean. More than 300 students and 18 teachers turned up at the social work.
District level Quiz winners felicitated at Raj Bhavan
Kohima, October 11 (MExN): The District level winners of the quiz competition on the “Life and Works of Mahatma Gandhi” were felicitated by the Governor PB Acharya at Raj Bhavan on October 2. The quiz was conducted by government colleges in their respective districts along with private colleges and higher secondary schools to commemorate that 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The winners also attended a seminar organized by Raj Bhavan on the “Thoughts and Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi”. The seminar was attended by 228 students and faculty representatives from colleges under Kohima and Dimapur districts.
Unity College hosts prog on e-waste management
Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): The Eco Club of Unity College and e-circle Dimapur jointly conducted a sensitization programme on e-waste management on October 6 at Unity College. Soweteü K Letro, Co-founder of e-Circle, Dimapur who was the main speaker spoke on how to handle electronic waste sustainably. The programme was hosted by Imkongyanger Imchen, Assistant Professor Department of Environmental Studies, a press release from the Dean of Students Welfare informed. Meanwhile, in another event, the IQAC Social Activities Committee of Unity College also organized a free will donation drive in aid of the landslide affected area in Langkok Village, under Kiphire District. The donations collected were handed to Dimapur Sangtam Students’ Union (DSSU) for further proceeding.
ZVYC elect new office bearers
Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Village Youth Club (ZVYC) in a general meeting cum election on October 2 has elected its new office bearers for the term 2018 – 2021. Rampaugum Kulim and T Graceson Rongmei have been elected President and General Secretary respectively.
CMA installs new team for 2018-21
Pfutsero, October 11 (MExN): The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) installed a new of officials for the tenure 2018-2021 during its 11th Triennial general session which was held recently. The new team will be headed by Zhonelu Tunyi from Kikruma Village. The officials include President, Zhonelu Tunyi; Vice Presidents, Ruyizolu Rhakho and Khwutsolu Sumi; General Secretary, Kezevinuo Krome; Joint Secretary, Akhrole K Tara; and Publicity & Information Secretary, Wezopeü Elah.
