Ganja worth Rs. 1.50 lakh seized   Kohima, April 1 (MExN): Kohima Police manning Peducha check gate while conducting routine checking and frisking of vehicles intercepted one vehicle, a Tata Sumo Grand, and recovered a total of 30 kilos of contraband ganja worth Rs. 1.50 lakh in the National market. In this connection, one person identified as Neli Mao (55 years) was taken into police custody and a regular case under the NDPS Act is registered against him for further investigation, a press release from the Kohima Police PRO informed.     UGC to continue funding under Plan Schemes   New Delhi, April 1 (MExN): The University Grants Commission (UGC) at its 522nd meeting held on March 28 resolved that all existing schemes of the UGC under Plan head would continue for the fiscal year 2017- 18. A notification issued by P.K. Thakur, Financial Advisor of UGC vide F. No. 22-4/ 2016 (FD- I/ B) dated 29th March, 2017 informed of the continuance of funding under Plan Schemes beyond March 31. However, these schemes would be reviewed by the UGC, it added.     ARCS office Mkg shifted   Mokokchung, April 1 (DIPR): Office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS) Mokokchung has been shifted to present District Fishery Office, Mokokchung (Ground Floor) on April 12017. ARCS, Mokokchung, AlanglaTongerhas informed public and offices in the district to take note of the shifting of the office. Normal functioning of the ARCS office, Mokokchung would resume soon.     Home department notifies   Dimapur, April 1 (DIPR): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (Home Department) in a notification on March 30, 2017 has informed that the following designation of the Commissioner & Secretary (Home) Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Women Resource Development, Relief & Rehabilitation shall be used for all related correspondences. Henceforth, all concerned have been requested to use the correct designation for correspondences where copies have also been endorsed to all AHODs, HODs and Deputy Commissioners.   NERC shifted to Upper Agri Colony   Kohima, April 1 (DIPR): Secretary, Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Kohima, W.Y. Yanthan has informed that the Office of the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) at Old MLA Hostel Complex, Kohima which was destroyed during the mob agitation on February 2, 2017 has been shifted to Upper Agri Colony, Near Stella Hr. Secondary School, Kohima temporarily. Secondary school, kohima – 797001” Email address: nerc_kohima@yahoo.com/nerckohima@hotmail.com     DDADU informs fiber owner   Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The Dimapur district Autorickshaw Driver’s Union (DDADU), has asked the owner of a ‘Dome Mechanical Seal fiber Splice Closure –GJS80820 (FOSC), apparently left in an auto, to claim it from its Head Office, Super Market near Hotel Saramati. The rightful owner should claim the same within 7 days and any claims afterwards will not be entertained, said DDADU in a press note. The union also informed that any belonging lost in an autorickshaw due to one’s negligence should not be blame on the driver under any circumstances.     AR recovers ‘warlike stores’   Zunheboto, April 1 (MExN): 5 Assam Rifles recovered a cache of arms, ammunitions and “warlike stores” from a forest near Asukhomi and Lizu Naghuto on March 28. According to a defence release, the recovery included one 5.56 mm HK-33 Rifle with magazine, one 7.62 mm AK-56 Rifle with magazine and 66 live ammunitions and “other warlike stores” suspected to be hidden by the NSCN (K). The seized arms and ammunition were later handed over to Zunheboto Police Station on the same day.     Special Worship Service on April 2   Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming Centennial Jubilee in 2021 and as a part of preparation for its Grand Celebration, the Sanis Village Baptist Ekhumkho is organizing a Special Worship Service Program for Employees, Pensioners, Businessmen and Contractors of Sanis Citizens on April 2 at 11:00 am with the theme “God’s Guidance and Blessings”. The programme is co-sponsored by Finance Committee, SYBECJ. The programme will begin with ‘Coffee Nite-cum- Camp Fire’ on April 1 right after the Saturday Evening Worship Service which will be sponsored by Well-wishers’. SYBE, Pastor Incharge Abemo Erui in a press release has requested all citizens of Sanis to make it convenient to attend the programs positively and be richly blessed.     DBSU elects new team for 2017-18   Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): Dimapur Bengali Students Union (DBSU) held its general meeting on March 26 at Ramthakur Sevashram Conference Hall. The meeting was convened to form new office bearers and advisory board for the term 2017-18, to discuss on aims and objectives and also on new project works.   Ajay Kumar Das was re-elected as president with Biki Dey as the General Secretary. Kamala Kanta Paul was elected as Chief advisor in advisory board of DBSU. Others who attended and addressed the meeting were Bishnu Bhattacharjee, Prof Chhanda Dutta of Govt College, Ashim Patikar (GB), Juel Acharjee president, Bongs Shubhankar Das, Coordinator, Shemrock School with other community leaders and Bengali students.
