
Massive traffic jam along Dimapur-Kohima highway Morung Express News Dimapur | April 7 A massive traffic jam erupted on Friday afternoon along the Dimapur-Kohima National Highway near Jharnapani after two trucks broke down blocking the highway. The ongoing four laning works also contributed to the jam. Commuters narrated experiences of having gone through a harrowing time with some informing that they were stuck for over two hours. KWT to donate drinking water system to NHAK Kohima, April 7 (MExN): In a benevolent gesture, the Kohima Watsü Telen (Kohima Ao Women Organization) under the theme ‘Save a life’ is all set to donate drinking water system to Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima on April 8. It will be inaugurated by NHAK managing director Dr. Neikhrielie Khimiao at 10:30 am at the hospital premises. Watienla Jamir will also address the gathering. Fund sanctioned to purchase land for Mt. Tiyi College: HM Wokha, April 7 (DIPR): Home Minister Y Patton has informed that an amount of Rs. 1.20 crores has been sanctioned and released under State Land Acquisition (SLA) for the purchase of 5.66 acres of land for extension of Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha. He said this during his visit to the college on April 6. Patton also assured the college authority that road construction for the college will commence at the earliest and will be completed within the current month. The Home Minister was accompanied by the District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Superintendent of Police, Wokha and other officials. District admin bans hunting in Wokha Wokha, April 7 (DIPR): The Wokha district administration along with the Department of Forest on April 6 informed the general public that hunting/shooting of Black Bulbuls and wildlife in the district has been banned with immediate effect. PTYS continues effort to keep Phek Town clean Phek, April 7 (MExN): The first week of April being a sanitation week, the Clean-Green Operation Phek, a constituent body of Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS), initiated social work in and around the town. The whole of Phek Town was engaged in the social work which was specially focused on plastics, bottles, wrappers, papers, etc., a press release from Clean-Green Operation Phek informed. The release mentioned that Phek Town has been declared plastic free, smoke free and green town. “Likewise the PTYS with clean-green has been doing its best to make a dream town.” Expressing gratitude to all the colony chairmen, GBs, youth presidents and the citizens of Phek Town for their cooperation during the social work, the PTYS further requested the citizens to maintain civic sense by keeping the town clean and green. It also requested the dog owners to chain their dogs claiming that they have been the main cause of littering the town. “Any dog loitering in the town will be killed and no blame should come to the implementing agency,” it warned. The release further stated that the cleanest colony will be awarded with cash prize at the year end.
