Mokokchung to celebrate World Environment Day Mokokchung, June 3 (DIPR): Commemorating the World Environment Day, the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Nagaland is organizing a programme under the theme “Connecting People to Nature” at Town Hall, Mokokchung on June 5. The programme will be graced by the Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Dr.Imtiwapang Aier as the Chief Guest. It will be attended by Minister, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Imkong L. AR bust arms fabrication unit Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): 41 Assam Rifles allegedly busted an arms fabrication unit during an operation conducted at Lhomithi, Signal Basti in Dimapur on June 3. A press release from Assam Rifles informed that one person identified as Kiyoka Yepthomi (29) was apprehended in this connection. The release claimed that the apprehended revealed his involvement in fabrication, smuggling and sale of arms to UG cadres. The recoveries included one 9 mm Carbine Machine Gun with magazine and one .22 mm pistol with magazine, a semi fabricated 9 mm Pistol, .22 mm Pistol, G-4 Assault type Rifle and various other weapon parts and tools, it added. The individual along with the recovered arms and items was handed over to Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation. Excise personnel seize liquor Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Dimapur district Excise personnel manning Chumukedima check gate recovered 192 cans of beer (500 ml each) from a Phek bound Mahindra Bolero vehicle bearing registration number AS01P4932 on June 3 at 9:30 am. In this connection, one person identified as Vepo Tenenu was arrested and booked under Section 44 of NLTP Act 1989, informed a press release from Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, S Chanlei Angh. NSCN (IM) mourns Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has expressed pain over the demise of Samuel Shaiza, Under Secretary, Ministry of Forest & Environment at Lungfu Village on June 3. Shaiza was enrolled in the national service on January 10, 1998 and served the nation with utmost sincerity and dedication, stated a condolence note issued by DG Robert, Cabinet Secretary to the GPRN. “Naga nation shall always cherish his sacrificial service rendered to the sacred cause of the nation with pride and honor,” it added. The GPRN further extended sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed to God for the solace of the departed soul.
