AR personnel seize liquor Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): 41 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) along with Police representative conducted a joint operation in 7th Mile, Dimapur on June 13 and recovered 707 cases of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). The liquor were recovered from a godown belonging to one Asum, whose whereabouts could not be discovered, according to a press release from PRO, Assam Rifles. The recovered liquor was handed over to Diphupar Police Station, the release added.   DC Phek cautions Phek, June 14 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Kovi Meyase has informed that the 22nd Assam Rifles Phek is conducting small arm firing practice at firing range from June 12 to 17 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Therefore, all the public and nearby villagers have been warned not to venture near the firing range.   NCD invites to memorial service for Khaplang Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has invited all the tribal hohos and affiliated organizations – Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), GBs Sadar Union Dimapur, and all other different communities to a special solemn memorial service for the late NSCN (K) Chairman, Khaplang on June 17, 1:00 pm at Town Hall, Super Market here. The programme is jointly organized by Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) and Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO). A press release from NCD president, T. Bangerloba further informed all citizens to pay homage/prayer to the departed soul of late SS Khaplang. Expressing support to the programme, NCD told the leaders of organizations affiliated to it that atleast 25 people should attend the programme with respective attire/traditional dress.   New programme on AIR Kohima Kohima, June 14 (MExN): All India Radio (AIR), Kohima is introducing new programme series to promote scientific temper and scientific awareness among the listeners. The programme titled ‘Life must go on’ will be aired every Saturday from 12:10 pm to 12:40 pm starting from June 17. Sponsored by Vigyan Prasar and Nagamese version by AIR Kohima, the series consists of 52 episodes.   NPGN/NNC (NA) mourns Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): The NPGN/NNC (NA) has mourned the sudden demise of Akhali Wokhami, wife of CAO Kiyelho Wokhami on June 5. In a condolence message, it acknowledged that her “unflinching support and guiding principle has encouraged our leader and the Government in general to stand firm and committed for the Nagas fight for the self determination.” All rank and file of NPGN/NNC (NA) led by Collective Leadership further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.   NSSATA Tuensang demands release of pending salaries Tuensang, June 14 (MExN): The Nagaland SSA Teachers’ Association (NSSATA), Tuensang unit has demanded release of pending salaries as per the written assurance No. NSSATA/ULT/01/06 given by the government on November 2, 2016. In a press release, NSSATA Tuensang unit president, Tochijung Chang and Member, Selongkyu stated that due to the failure on the part of the government, SSA teachers are facing untold miseries since their appointment. It also mentioned that they have been attending their duties at school in spite of the hardship faced. “However, if the concerned authority continues to threaten their rights and security, they would be left with no other choice but resort back to their own course of action,” the press release added.
