KYO condemns assault Kohima, June 16 (MExN): The Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) has condemned the assault on one of its members by unidentified gunman. In a press statement, KYO alleged that the gunman seriously injured the victim on the head with pistol butt and threatened him while KYO members were trying to ease the traffic on June 15 at the landslide site at Kiruphema (NH 29). “The KYO has been selflessly sacrificing its time and labour for public service and it shall not tolerate such kind of anti social act in future,” the statement asserted. It further demanded that the authority should see that commuters and public are safe in any manner in the coming days. Meanwhile, KYO cautioned against any group or individuals collecting tax from vehicles at the landslide site (Kiruphema), stating “such illegal tax collection or anti social activities will be penalized as per KYO constitution.”     2965 bottles of liquor seized Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): Acting on a tip off, the Excise Mobile Squad Special Surveillance team on June 15 seized 2965 bottles of assorted liquor from Burma Camp at around 5:00 pm. The investigation in connection to this case is underway, informed a press release from Katoho Sumi, Superintendent of Excise (MS). Meanwhile, the seized articles have been kept at the unit's Malkhana.     Creating awareness on HIV & AIDS Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): 41 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on HIV & AIDS awareness at Government High School, Piphema. Attended by 35 students of the school, the lecture aimed to increase awareness on HIV & AIDS, its impact, management and availability of support systems. The lecture also focused on causes of HIV and implications of sexual behavior and transmission of infections, a press release from Assam Rifles stated.
