 
                          
                  4th Mile bridge collapse: Government pays ex gratia DIMAPUR, JULY 19 (MExN): The Nagaland State Government has paid ex gratia to the kith and kin of the victims and the injured in the recent iron girder bridge collapse in 4th Mile, Dimapur. ADC Dimapur, Sara Jamir handed over the cheques to the family members of the deceased and injured victims on July 19 from the Deputy Commissioner's office, Dimapur in the presence of EAC Chumukedima and Village Chairmen of Nihoto, Naga United Village and Khehukhu villages. Ex gratia of Rs 4,00,000 each was paid to the kith and kin of the four deceased, while Rs 54,100 along with immediate relief from ERF of Rs 5,000 was paid to the 4 injured. Dimapur District Administration probes reports of plastic eggs DIMAPUR, JULY 19 (MExN): In the wake of reports from various quarters regarding availability of plastic eggs in the market, the Dimapur District Administration along with Police, DCCI and DMC collected samples of eggs from various parts of Dimapur town and were tested on July 18. The tests were done in the presence of NGOs and officials namely Naga Council, Dimapur and Naga Women HOHO, Food Safety Officer Dimapur (CMO) and Administrative Officers. A press note from the DC informed that during the test no such artificial plastic eggs were found. BLOs of Northern Angami-1 informed Kohima, July 19 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, has directed all the BLOs of 10 Northern Angami-I AC to report to the DB Court, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima on July 21, 11:30 am without fail for briefing on distribution of Voter Slips for the bye-election to the 10 Northern Angami – I AC. Shops to be whitewashed for I-Day Kohima, July 19 (DIPR): Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) Administrator, Kethosituo Sekhose has directed all the business establishments and shopkeepers within Kohima Municipal Council jurisdiction to whitewash and clean the front side of their respective shops facing the road side on or before August 10, 2017 to “face-lift” for the Independence Day 2017 celebration. Om Prakash Sethi re-elected as Jain Samaj president Dimapur, July 19 (MExN): Om Prakash Sethi and Prakash Ajmera were reelected as the President and the Secretary of the Jain Samaj respectively. The Digamber Jain Samaj elected its new Executive body for the tenure 2017-20 and 31 Executive members were elected through electoral process which was held on June 25 under Sanjay Kashliwal as Election Commissioner and Arun Sethi, Anil Sethi (HP) as its team members. NNC mourns Dimapur, July 19 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow at the sudden demise of Eshithung Ennio, Senior Advisor of NNC, who passed away on July 15 at his native village. “Late Eshithung was one the longest serving Lotha Regional Council President and Advisor NNC with firm stand of Naga freedom and sovereignty. He was truly a prayer warrior who always pray to God for the Naga Freedom and in particular his colleagues and national workers,” a condolence message from the NNC read. Stating that it has lost a veteran national worker, NNC added that it will remember his noble deeds for the Naga people and the Nation. DIPR training on Public Address System underway Kohima, July 19 (DIPR): The two-day training on ‘Public Address System’ for technical personnel of Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) started on July 19 at DIPR Conference Hall, Kohima. Speaking at a brief inaugural session, Director, IPR, Limawati Ao said the Department keeps upgrading the PA equipments and as such the technicians also have to be trained appropriately to handle them. He stated that technicians handling the PA equipments have to be responsible and alert because a slight mistake in handling would be very eminent since it is all about sound. He encouraged the participants to be interactive and clarify their doubts with the resource persons. Topics covered included ‘Basics of Connection of PA System’ and ‘Basics of Batteries and Cabling’.
