Prohibition on misuse of SMS

Longleng, February 1 (DIPR): In connection with certain objectionable messages on Short Message Service (SMS) transmitted by some vested interest during the elections, violating the provisions of election law and model code of conduct vitiating the atmosphere of free, fair and peaceful elections process, the DC & DEO of Longleng has informed all the Mobile Service Providers and the police authority in the district to check objectionable SMSs which violate the provision of election law, model code of conduct and the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) directions/instructions, and take appropriate action under the relevant provision of IPC, Representation of People Act 1951, Conduct of Election Rules 1961, and any other law applicable in the case.  

Requisitioned vehicle drivers informed to collect postal ballot

Kohima, February 1 (DIPR): The drivers of taxis (zonal, local), Bolero pick up/Tata mobile, private bus and government drivers under Kohima district, whose vehicles have been requisitioned for election duty or already deployed on election duty by DC & DEO Kohima and are desirous of availing postal ballot have been informed to collect Form-12 for postal ballot from Transport Cell, DC's office, Kohima and submit to Postal Ballot Cell/Revenue Branch, 2nd Floor, DC's office, Kohima by February 7 during office hours. This was informed by the Officer In-charge of Transportation for Election Duty & SDO (C) Kohima Sadar, Moakumzuk Tzudir.  

Training for polling officials in Dimapur

Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): The first phase of training for the polling personnel who have been assigned duty for the forthcoming NLA election will be conducted on February 2 and 3 at Dimapur Government College. The training will start at 1:00 pm for Presiding Officers & 1st Polling Officers, while training for 2nd & 3rd Polling Officers will be held from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. “No one is exempted except those who have been recommended by Medical Board set up by undersigned,” stated a press release from Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel. The DC directed all polling personnel along with Nodal officers to attend the training without fail, adding strict action will be initiated against the absentees as per the Representation of the People Act 1950 and Conduct of Election Rules 1961.  

RSA mourns

Kohima, February 1 (MExN): The Rengma Sports Association (RSA) has expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members of late Issac Khing, President, RSA and Deputy Director of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, who passed away on January 22 in Kohima. In a message, the association recalled late Issac as a dedicated and sincere person who was a man of words. “His untimely demise is irreparable and irreplaceable,” the RSA stated. “We pray that the love of God enfolds the entire family members during this time of grief and sorrow. May his soul rest in peace,” it added.  

Yashila joins NPP

Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): Yashila resigned from both the active and primary membership of Indian National Congress (INC) on January 30 and joined the National People’s Party (NPP) under the leadership of NPP national president, Conrad K Sangma, MP Lok Sabha and president of NPP Nagaland State, Ato Yepthomi. Yahsila made this declaration in a press release.  

BJP appoints president of 4 Ghaspani 1 Mandal

Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): The president of BJP Dimapur district in consultation with the district in-charge has appointed Vitoho Zhimomi as president of BJP 4 Ghaspani 1 Mandal on January 29, informed a press release from Sentimeren, general secretary, BJP Dimapur district unit.
