AR apprehend alleged arms dealer   Dimapur, August 13 (MExN): 32 Assam Rifles along with police representative apprehended an alleged arms dealer during an operation launched at Tolovi village, Dimapur on August 11. According to a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North), one .22 mm rifle with magazine and three live rounds were recovered from the apprehended person identified as Atoki (26). The apprehended along with the recovered arms and ammunitions was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, it added.     PNTMK sport cum annual get together   Kohima, August 13 (MExN): Poumai Naga Tsüdoumai Me Kohima (students’ union) is organizing sports meet cum annual get together in commemoration of 71st Naga Independence Day on August 14 and 15, 8:30 am at Seikhazou ground in D. Khel, Kohima. Various games like football, volleyball, tug of war and other indigenous games for both men and women will be played, according to a press release. Senior advocate of Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench Ashipri Zho will be the chief guest, Advisor Poumai Naga Union Kohima (PNUK) CD Jongeo John will be the guest of honour, and Advisor PNUK P.H. Shesou will be the valedictory chief guest. President PNTMK Romeo Chao has requested all the members concerned to participate in the programme.     NSSU mourns   Dimapur, August 13 (MExN): Northern Sumi Students’ Union (NSSU) has mourned the demise of Hezhekhu Chophy, president, Northern Sumi Hoho on August 8. NSSU described late Hezhekhu as a visionary icon who always believed in the welfare of the society, particularly for Northern Sumis. NSSU conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.     ZGKD condoles   Dimapur, August 13 (MExN): Zutovi Ghami Kuqhakulu Dimapur (ZGKD) has expressed pain at the demise of its member, H. Hokivi Chishi. “He was the backbone of our Union and always came forward to assist us and worked for the welfare of our members in Dimapur,” stated a condolence message from ZGKD president, Kiyegho Aye. “In his demise, the ZGKD has lost a strong pillar and a big shade whose immense contributions would forever be etched in our hearts.” ZGKD also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.     Quit India anniversary observed at Raj Bhavan   Kohima, August 13 (MExN): The 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, also Known as ‘August Kranti’ Andolan, was celebrated at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on August 9. Nagaland Governor PB Acharya along with officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, Kohima paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion, a press release informed. The Quit India Movement was launched in August 1942 demanding an end to British rule in India.
