Disburse CSS scholarship within 10 days: ANCSU DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 18 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has expressed concern at the delay in disbursement of Centrally Sponsored Scheme post matric scholarship for ST students of Nagaland for the year 2016-17. A press note from the ANCSU informed that it held a meeting with the Nagaland Governor on this issue at the Raj Bhavan in Kohima. The delay in scholarship, the ANCSU stated, is “hampering the students’ community at large.” Scholarship is one of the most important sources for the students’ community to reach our academic needs in many aspects, it added. The meeting was attended by the Director Higher Education and OSD Scholarship Higher Education. As assured by the Department during the meeting, the ANCSU appealed to the Higher Education Department to take necessary steps and disburse the scholarship within 10 days. It meanwhile appreciated the Governor for his “support and initiative taken for the welfare of the students.” Mokokchung Press Club condoles Mokokchung, September 18 (MExN): Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) has expressed deepest condolence to Moasashi Jamir, senior journalist attached with Nagaland Post and member of Mokokchung Press Club, at the passing of his mother Limakumla. She passed away on September 18 in Mokokchung after prolonged illness at the age of 72 years, informed MPC in a condolence message. At this hour of grief and bereavement, the Mokokchung Press Club shared feeling of loss with Moasashi Jamir. It prayed that God will grant solace to the bereaved family and strength to Moasashi in this moment of bereavement. KMC Administrator directs shopkeepers Kohima, September 18 (DIPR): The Kohima Municipal Council Administrator, Kethosituo has informed that even after several notifications some shopkeepers are still stocking their products/goods on the footpath causing undue inconveniences to the pedestrians. He therefore directed all the shopkeepers to stop such practice immediately. He also cautioned all the shopkeepers that if they are found violating the notice during inspection, their goods will be seized without any further notice and they will be penalized as per the provision of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001. AR seize explosives, arms Mokokchung, September 18 (MExN): 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (North) recovered a cache of explosives, arms and ammunition from Tuli Town in Mokokchung on September 18, according to a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North). The items comprising of one 9 mm pistol bearing Regd No 1117 (made in USA), magazine of 9 mm pistol, live round of 9 mm pistol, explosives, “warlike stores” and 11 bottles of IMFL were seized from the house of one Koralimzung Ao at Longlilenden Ward, 21 Mile, it added. He along with the recovered items was subsequently handed over to Tuli Police Station for further investigation.
