Tibetan migrants in Kohima district informed

Kohima, February 9 (MExN): As per the directive from Ministry of Home Affairs/Foreigners Division, Tibetan migrants (refugees) residing in Kohima district are required to complete online registration of their Residential Certificate/Registration with FRO Kohima (SP Office) on or before March 31, 2018, informed a press release from Watichuchang Jamir, Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO, Kohima. For online registration/Residential Certificate, the application can be submitted at https://indianfrro.gov.in. Any queries relating to online registration can be clarified from the FRO Office (SP Office), Kohima during working hours, the release added.  

Three apprehended by Assam Rifles

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended three persons for allegedly collecting taxes in Dimapur on February 8. The three were apprehended with “cash of Rs. 5,53,710/- and incriminating documents including vehicle tax collection slips of UG groups” during an operation launched with police representative based on information about tax collection being carried out in GS Road and Kalibari, Dimapur, according to a press release from Lt Col Angshuman Chakrabarti, Officiating PRO, HQ IGAR (N). The apprehended persons have been identified as Rajendra Prasad Yadav (42), Suraj Jain (49), and Paras Jain (46). The three along with the recovered items were handed over to East Police Station and Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, the release added.  

ALTP cautions

DIMAPUR, February 9 (MExN): The Ao Lanur Telongjem Padumpukhuri (ALTP), Dimapur has cautioned against the usage of organisation’s name for electioneering purposes. “This is to notify all the Aos residing in Padumpukhuri that if any person or group is found using the name of the Ao Lanur Telongjem Padumpukhuri for personal, political and financial gain in the upcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly general election 2018 will be strictly dealt by the office,” stated a press release issued by the ALTP president Imkongsunep and general secretary Senti Jamir.  

ANTA Wokha unit pained over pre-poll violence

Wokha, February 9 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha unit has expressed pain and sadness at the escalating pre-election violence in Wokha district. A press release from the unit president, Hayithung Odyuo and general secretary, Lipenthung Ovung has appealed to all the political parties, intending candidates, supporters to refrain from the tactics of violence, threats and intimation and be more sensible and wise in these crucial days. Meanwhile, the unit reminded the public that taxi being a commercial vehicle when hired/paid ply to the desired destination of the travellers or any group. Therefore, it urged the public especially during the election period to “consider the case of commercial vehicle instead of acting senselessly.” The unit also reproved the recent vandalism of zonal/local taxi in the pre-poll violence in Wokha district.  

Common platform for candidates in Langpangkong range

Mokokchung, February 9 (MExN): Langpangkong Kaketshir Mondang Clean Election Campaign Committee (LKMCECC) is organizing a common platform programme for the candidates in the Langpangkong range for the 2018 Nagaland general election. For 22 Arkakong A/C, the event will be held on February 14 at 2:00 pm at Changtongya Town Hall; Subonenba Longkumer will be the moderator. For the candidates of 24 Angetyongpang A/C, the common platform will be held at Longkong Baptist Chuch at 10:00 am on February 14 with R Bendang Yaden as the moderator. For 21 Tuli Assembly Constituency, the programme will be held at Tuli Town Baptist Church on February 15 at 10:00 am with Limaakum Jamir as the moderator.

Ganga seized in Kohima

Kohima, February 9 (DIPR): The Flying Squad team-1 under 9th Kohima Town A/C led by Magistrate Lisepi, OSD, Higher Education during a surprise checking at Para Medical junction here on February 9 confiscated 60 kg of ganga from Apey and Alhi in a vehicle bearing registration number NL 01-T-9065. The accused along with the contraband and vehicle have been handed over to South Police Station and a case registered against the accused.  

One arrested with drugs

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The Excise Mobile Squad Special Task Force in Dimapur constituted in view of the forthcoming State general election seized 1500 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon on February 9. In this regard, one Shambu has been arrested and booked under relevant section of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, according to a press release from Katoho Sumi, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition (MS). The accused has been forwarded to the court for trial.
