4 lane highway: landowners demand full compensation DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 10 (MExN): The affected landowners of the 4 lane Highway (Asian Highway) have termed the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) proposal to pay land compensation on instalment basis as “unacceptable.” A press note from the affected landowners said the NHIDCL had made this proposal citing fund constraints. However, the landowners informed that the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MORTH) had sanctioned the exact amount of land compensation, amounting to Rs 1,74,36,59,521 for the construction of 4 lane Dimapur bypass from Patkai/Chumukedima bridge to Kushiabill village under Dimapur district. Asking State Government authorities to also take notice of this, the land owners asserted that they would not accept instalment or part payment of the land compensation. They demanded that the NHIDCL release the total compensation amount to the affected landowners before February 16, “failing which the land owners will take up strong democratic agitation.”     Phek Deputy Commissioner urges Kohima, Feb 10 (MExN): Phek Deputy Commissioner Murohu Chotso on Tuesday urged the villages which were allotted a plot within Khuza EAC HQ under Phek district to start construction of a house each at an early date. He said with the inauguration of Tizu Area Sports Complex at Khuza, many sports activities will take place from time to time and the construction of house by the villages concerned will serve well the purpose during any important event or tournament for contingents as well as visitors. He urged upon all the villages concerned to treat this matter as urgent and necessity. Tizu Area Sports Complex, constructed by Rural Development department under MGNREGA Special Project 2015-16, was inaugurated by Kelei Zeliang, Secretary, Rural Development on February 9 last.     Kiphire, Shamator people asked to desist from violence Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): Peace Coalition of Northeast India (PCNI) has appealed to the people of Kiphire and Shamator to desist from further violence, and restrain from any abusive words and hate speeches which aggravate distrust. “We seek all stakeholders to give space for dialogue towards settlement of the any pending issue, because violence is never the answer,” said a press release from PCNI Coordinator, Adahe Neli. “Violence begets violence and violence never solves any problem.” It further appealed to the Government of Nagaland to contain the situation and assuage the people who are wronged.     Two arrested with assorted IMFL Peren, February 10 (MExN): Personnel of DEF Peren manning Police Assistant Booth (PAB) Mhainamtsi seized 66 cases of assorted IMFL on February 7 from a red Bolero bearing registration No AS-07D-5693. The liquor was seized from the possession of the driver identified as Md. Atabur Rahman and another occupant of the vehicle identified as Meenu. Superintendent of Police, Peren in a press release informed that accordingly a case U/S 44 NLTP Act has been registered at Jalukie Police Station and investigation taken up.
