ENPUC condemns killing
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): Eastern Naga Peoples Union Chumukedima (ENPUC) has condemned the February 6 killing of Alemba Sangtam and his wife Narola on the way to Kiphire from Shamator. In a statement, the union further urged the State government to arrest the culprits and award befitting punishment and bring justice at the earliest. Meanwhile, ENPUC conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
Excise Mobile Squad seize liquor; four arrested
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): Acting on a request for immediate eviction of liquor stores located opposite Circuit House in Dimapur, the Excise Mobile Squad led by its Superintendent raided the said area and seized 396 bottles of assorted liquor on February 16 around 6:00 pm. Four persons were arrested in this connection and booked under relevant section of the NLTP Act, ’89. A press release from Superintendent of Excise (MS), Katoho Sumi said that the liquor seized has been deposited at Excise Mobile Malkhana. While appreciating such request of the public, Sumi further appealed for more such action from all.
Students’ unions condemn assault on NSF officials
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): Dimapur Naga Students’ Union and Diphupar Naga Students’ Union have condemned the assault on NSF officials by Manipur Police Commandos in Imphal on February 14. In a joint press statement, presidents of the two students’ unions voiced out concern for the Nagas as well as the general masses travelling through Manpiur. They alleged that Manipur Police often perpetrate such acts against innocent civilians. “We push forth our support to the ultimatum served by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) striving for justice and security.” The statement further appealed for better coordination to shun such incidents in the future for cordial relationships.
