Leirie Chazou Panchayat endorses resolutions for free and fair election

Kohima, February 19 (MExN): The Leirie Chazou Panchayat executives in an emergency meeting on February 18 decided to fully endorse the resolutions passed by the Leirie Chazou Youth Organisation (LCYO) for the ensuing general election. A press release from Neizongulie Suohu, secretary and Thepfuzakie Angami, chairman of Leirie Chazou Panchayat informed that the resolution banned opening of election camps. It also prohibited use of loud speakers/music etc after 8:00 pm particularly in order not to disturb the HSLC & HSSLC examinees. “In order to conduct free and fair poll, no outsiders shall be allowed to interfere in the poll process in the colony in any manner. Only genuine colony voters are to exercise their franchise,” it was further resolved. It warned that stern necessary action shall be taken on the defaulters.  

Excise Narcotic Cell seize drugs

Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The Excise Narcotic Cell personnel performing Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) duty recovered a total of 18,040 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon and Nitrosun (Nitrazepam) from two persons identified as Raju Pradhan (29) of Lahorijan and Abhijeet Das (40) of Hojai, Assam on February 18 in Dimapur. A press release from Tarep Imchen, Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition, Nagaland informed that the Excise Narcotic Cell personnel got hold of the vehicle that the two accused were travelling in at City Tower junction after a chase. The vehicle (ASO1 BG 3780) was flagged for frisking at Marwari Patti, but, the driver sped away and was finally caught at City Tower junction, the release said. A case has been registered under NDPS Act 1985 and is under further investigation, it added.
